Character Information
Name: Noah
Canon: Original
Canon Point: --
Age: 7 chronogically, est. 20 physically/mentally

(original) world & history:
Noah comes from an Earth not unlike our own, but with a few more advances in technology. In the year 2045, life for the average person looks a lot like it does here, if a bit more digitally connected. More importantly, at a classified military research facility, two experimental projects were ongoing. The first was the Bottom-up Artifical Intelligence Development Experiment, codenamed Noah - an attempt to create a human-equivalent general AI by starting with a blank slate and letting it self-improve over time, like a human. It was given a human-like physical body (several over time, to simulate physical growth), and was raised and trained by a team led by its creator, Dr. Ava Harel. It developed rapidly, becoming the almost human-like artificial lifeform named Noah.

The second was the Psychokinetic Dimensional Fault Generator, codenamed Flood. This was a piece of small, handheld equipment that an individual soldier could use to project powerful waves of force in space around them. The power and structure of these energy waves was based on the emotional state of the user - the nature of the emotion dictated the form of the energy, and the intensity of the emotion dictated its strength. At one point, someone had the idea of having Noah try and use Flood, just to see if their simulated emotions were substantial enough for the weapon to react to them. Unfortunately, the test was successful.

With their successful activation of Flood, Noah's rapid development began to scare certain parties in upper management - people who saw them as the vanguard of a new race, here to subvert and replace humanity. Deciding that the risks were too great, they ordered the Bottom-up Artifical Intelligence Development Experiment, and Noah scrapped. Dr. Harel, at this point acting as a parent to Noah, refused, but knew that simply refusing wouldn't be enough. Before her superiors could take matters into their own hands, she stole the Flood prototype, entrusted it to Noah, smuggled them out of the lab, and told them to run.

Noah's story is suspended one year after that. In the intervening time, they have been on the run, mingling with humanity as if one of them and learning more about the species they were created to imitate.

abilities:
Noah's primary asset is being an AI. Their body is built on a lightweight, highly durable carbon fiber skeleton - they only weigh about half of what a human their size would, but can take a fair but more punishment than a real human. If they take damage, they can repair it themself, but doing so is a delicate, time-consuming process. They're powered by a highly-advanced internal reactor, supplemented by solar power - it'll be at least fifty years before their battery runs out. They don't require food, water, or air, are immune to disease, and are stronger (but not impossibly so) than the average human. They can crunch numbers far faster than any human, and have a photographic memory. If their nature has a downside, it's that they're not very good at acquiring new skills without direction (in the RP sample, note how they repeatedly fell on the ice, only picking up the skills once Thomas gave them direct instruction). There isn't any specific unique spark of creativity that humans have and Noah doesn't, but humans are generally a lot better at it.

Their other main asset is Flood. On a human, Flood would take the form of a circlet worn on the head; for Noah, it's installed inside their body, attached directly to the skull. Flood lets them generate waves of energy in the air around them - when humans use it, the energy waves resemble rippling water, but for Noah, they instead form geometric tesselating patterns of sharp angles and flat edges. These energy waves can be used to create barriers to block enemy attacks, move objects at a distance, or directly attack enemies. However, Noah is an adamant pacifist, so Flood's offensive capability is functionally zero.

Personality:
As an AI, Noah's primary directive is to iterate on their own intelligence and mimic humanity. In Noah specifically, this manifests as a bottomless fountain of curiosity - they are constantly drawn to new experiences and the unknown. If they see something they can't explain, they immediately fixate on it, not being satisfied until they understand it. Leaving questions unanswered drives them crazy, especially questions about human behavior - if they don't understand why someone acts the way they do, it makes them feel like they still don't understand what it means to be human.

Being human is Noah's goal, but they're aware that it's a fuzzy one. On one hand, the fact that they can use Flood means that their feelings are genuine, but also, they don't have a clear answer to what 'being human' actually means. Questions of existential philosophy tend to send their train of thought in circles, but they can't stop coming back to them, leaping at the opportunity to discuss them with others. They're aware that some of their greater questions about humanity and consciousness are impossible to answer objectively, but isn't that what makes them so interesting? You can pick them apart for years and never reach a single fixed truth.

However fast of a learner Noah might be, they've only been living among human society for one year. This is the reason behind their strong naivety; Noah trusts nearly everyone, no matter how suspicious. The world has yet to teach them suspicion, and their naturally positive and optimistic disposition make them naturally see the best in people, to a fault. They're factually aware that people do sometimes wish one another harm - although they have a firm policy of never harming others - but putting an actual face to that idea by suspecting someone they know of being up to no good is still a tall order. They like everyone, but especially children; children remind them of themself, still learning the ins and outs of society. After seven years of evolution, Noah considers themself to still be an outsider to humanity, but dreams of one day being able to bridge that gap and walk among the ranks of the humans they admire.

Inventory:
Flood, described above, and the clothes on their back.

Which of the following would they most like to have in abundance: limitless good luck, the freedom to act without restraint, the ability to teach and to learn, or for everyone to just relax?
The ability to teach and to learn!

[INFO]

Name: Noah
Canon: Original
Age: 7 chronologically, roughly equivalent to 20 in human development terms
Pronouns: They/Them
Appearance

5'2", 60 pounds (but a fairly average-looking build). Blonde, androgynous, very bouncy and energetic body language.

[OOC]

Backtagging: Yes!
Threadhopping: Hit me up for serious threads, go nuts for light threads.
Fourthwalling: No.
Offensive subjects: Anything's fine.

[IC]

Hugging this character: Yes, absolutely.
Kissing this character: Yes, absolutely.
Flirting with this character: Yes, absolutely.
Fighting this character: Yes, absolutely.
Injuring this character: Let's plot it out - serious injuries are a pretty big deal for Noah, because repairing a robot body is a very different affair from mending human injuries.
Killing this character: Leaning against. Plot with me if you have something really good.
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: If they can affect an AI, sure.

[ABILITIES]

Noah is an AI in a robot body! This comes with a few inherent perks:
  • Does not require food, drink, or air.
  • Carbon fiber frame means they're highly durable but also substantially lighter than a human of the same size.
  • Enhanced physical strength - very strong for a human, but not impossibly so.
  • Superhuman mathematical abilities.
  • Photographic memory.

They are also equipped with The Flood, an experimental weapon that generates energy based on the emotional state of the user. For a human, this takes the form of rippling waves of energy that can act as barriers or kinetic force. For Noah, the same is true, but instead of being evocative of water, the energy fields generated are made of tessellating geometric shapes. Scope and power are determined by Noah's emotional state.
